Movie Review: Gran Torino By Tracy Farr Clint Eastwood is back and he's better than ever -- so I've been told. I haven't actually seen the movie because my son decided to take his girlfriend to see it instead of me (can you believe it?), but he reports it's a pretty good flick. DAD: So, how was the movie? SON: Not bad. DAD: I thought you and I were going to go see it -- together, without women. You know, father and son at the movies! Male bonding! SON: Whatever. DAD: Okay, so how was the movie? SON: You need to go see it. DAD: You think? SON: Clint Eastwood was good, but when he talks, he sounds like he has a frog in his throat. DAD: Doesn't matter. Eastwood would still be "The Man" if he had an elephant in his throat. Now, go on. What about the story? SON: Well, there was a lot of action, and a lot of gun pointing. DAD: Sounds just like an Eastwood movie, but what about the story? SON: Well, there was some bad guys, and Eastwood was the good guy trying to put the bad guys in their place. DAD: Ok, but what about the story? SON: Listen, Dad, I was on a date. Remember? And there you have it! Gran Torino, Rated R for language and violence (I assume), but what a movie! Hopefully you'll see it while it's still in town, and if you do, please give me a call. I sure would like to know what the movie's about! |
