Christmas parade set for Dec. 15

By Tracy Farr
Editor, The Daily Spittoon

The Annual Stinky Creek Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 15 starting at 2 p.m. The theme for this year's parade is "Stinky Creek, Past and Present."  The parade will start at Stinker Stadium and end on the town square. All civic organizations are encouraged to decorate a float and participate.  For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce.

"I believe this is going to be the best parade in the state," Mayor Herbert Reese said.  "We've got horses, we've got Harleys, we've got floats, we've got bands, and we've got Santa Claus riding on Crappie County Volunteer Fire Department's Engine No. 17 -- so what more could you ask for."

Organizations that have already signed up for the parade include the Ladies of the Red Camo Hat Society; the Crappie County chapter of the Red Dog Harley Riding Group; members of the Stink Bomb Roller Derby team; as well as the band, drill team and cheerleaders from Stinky Creek High School.  The Stinky Creek Jazz Band will perform on the square as the parade passes by.

The Grand Marshall of the Parade will by KSTNK Channel 9's very own weatherman Allen Peever.

"Yessiree!  If you don't find something to like in this parade, then you're either dead or dying," Reese said.  "Allen Peever has already predicted the weather's going to be perfect, with a chance of showers, a slight chance of snow later in the afternoon if a Canadian cool front pushes through, but mostly sunny and humid.  So, everybody come out and enjoy the parade.  I know I will."
