Plant Your Blackberry Day By Tracy Farr Do you have a cell phone, an ipod or a computer that is giving you fits? Are you still not sure how to operate your universal TV remote? Does even the thought of texting give you the hives? Then join in with other techno-challenged people all over the globe Friday as they celebrate Plant Your Blackberry Day. "All a person really needs to celebrate the day is a gizmo that gives them hassles, a little bit of backyard and a shovel," said Johnny Dodd, local Plant Your Blackberry Day coordinator. "Just dig a hole, toss in all your techno cares and woes, cover it up, then have a nice day." According to Dodd, Plant Your Blackberry Day is a chance to get back at those technological devices that cause so much stress and anxiety in today's society. These devices include things from Blackberries to ipods to scanners and everything in-between. "I once had a digital camera that was just not user-friendly," Dodd said. "Every time I wanted to download my pictures it would say nothing was there to download. Yes, I could have taken it back to the store and gotten my money back, but it was so much more satisfying to bury it. "I'm not a very techno-savvy person," Dodd added. "Sometimes I wish we could just go back to the days of letters and books and get away from Blackberries and Plasma screens. But we can't. Plant Your Blackberry Day is the only way I know to fight back the waves of technology that pound on our shores. And I plan to celebrate the day every year -- every 15th of February." For more information, visit Johnny Dodd at his home after 5 p.m. Don't try calling; he doesn't have a phone. |
