3rd grader raises money for
Hillary When it comes to the nuances of running for president, Stinky Creek Elementary student Rodney Hayes doesn't know the difference between a Barak or a Hillary. What he does understand is that when presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton drops out of the race, she's not going to have any money to live on. That's why Rodney has started a fundraising campaign called "Sugar Cookies and Lemonade for Hillary." "I feel very sad for Mrs. Clinton," Rodney said during an interview in front of Hank's Department Store. "I don't think she's going to win being president, and when she stops trying, my dad says she'll be broke because she spent all of her money. I don't want her to starve." News reports say that Clinton has spent more than $11 million of her own money to become the democratic nominee for president. "My dad says we're broke all the time and he has a good job. He drives a truck," Rodney said. "If he spent $11 million on anything he'd go to jail. Either that or my mom would kill him and then I'd go to foster care. I don't think Mrs. Clinton would like foster care. I know I wouldn't." Rodney spent all day Saturday in front of Hank's selling homemade sugar cookies and lemonade that his mom helped make. So far he has raised $23.37. "He's a very caring young boy," said Rodney's mom, Sue. "Most people would've not given a flip about helping her because she's spent more money on trying to be president than most people will ever see in their lifetimes; money that could have been spent on fixing New Orleans or curing cancer or feeding the hungry all over the world. But not my Rodney. He cares about people. I'm really proud of him. And who knows -- maybe one day HE will be president." When asked if that's what he wanted to do with his life, Rodney said this: "Presidents have to run a lot. I don't mind walking, but I don't much care for running. I like fishing and flying kites. I think I'm going to be a professional kite-flying fisherman. It would be more fun than being president."
