Flock of ducks knock KSTK off air

By Tracy Farr
Editor, The Daily Spittoon

A flock of migrating ducks apparently flew into KSTK Channel 9's broadcasting tower early Saturday morning, causing the station to go off air for several hours.  Children expecting to see Saturday-morning cartoons weren't happy -- and neither were their parents.

"My kids wait all week long to watch Nina Bob Monster Truck Warrior," said Bob Stagger, father of three.  "So when Channel 9 is off the air, guess who they come complain to?  Me.  And is there anything I can do about? No!  And will they let me sleep in peace?  No!  They want me to get up and play with them.  And do I want to?  Well, let me put it to you this way.  I work for a living and the weekends are the only time for me to rest.  So no, I don't want to play.  Saturday mornings are for watching cartoons until I wake up and send them outside.  It's irresponsible for those people up at the TV station to not have some kind of contingency plan for something just like this.  I know my rights.  I pay my taxes.  Channel 9 better get on the ball or I'm REALLY going to get angry.  And the station better be on-air by tonight because there's no way I'm going to miss my favorite show, Murder By Email."

Bryan Harrison, Channel 9 general manager made this statement:

"We understand that the loss of our broadcast may cause some people anguish, but we believe this is an opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their children.  Read a book to them.  Do an outside project.  Draw or paint with them.  There's more to life than watching television.  Don't just let this opportunity pass.  Take advantage of it.  The station will be back up by late this afternoon.  It's up to you to decide how you're going to use that time between now and then.  Use it wisely."
