All local gamers are invited to attend the first annual "Ninja
Bob, Monster Truck Warrior" Festival this coming Saturday in the Life Health
Building. Competition starts at 8:30 a.m. and prizes and trophies will be
awarded.
"We think this will be a great annual event that kids of
all ages will want to attend," said Harold Winney, manager of the Life Health
Building. "We hope this will entice area youngsters to get off of their
couches, get on their bikes, pedal down to our building, and enjoy a competitive
video game of Ninja Bob with their friends and neighbors."
According to Winney, one of the rules of the event is that participants can only
play if they walked to the Life Health Building or they rode their bicycles.
Parent-driven competitors will not be allowed to participate.
"Video games have gotten a bum wrap over the years," Winney
said. "They've been blamed for everything from child obesity to the fall
of the American family. That's why we're promoting physical activity
before thumb activity. These kids have got to prove that they are willing
to exercise a bit before they sit on our couches all day long playing the No. 1
video game in America."
Local video game celebrity Randall
Cross will be participating in the event. Cross recently spent 76 days
on his couch playing "Ninja Bob, Monster Truck Warrior" and reached the 25th
level.
"I'm going to try my best to attend, but it's been a long
time since I've ridden a bike," said the 13-year-old Ninja Bob prodigy. "I might
have to walk to the Life Health Building. It's about four blocks away from
my house. If I start training today, I just might be able to make the walk
without breaking too much of a sweat."
