'Sumo Wrestler' wins poetry
contest The poem entitled "Sumo Wrestler," presented by a an unknown individual in a sumo wrestler costume, took first prize in the "Poetry on the Back Porch" contest held Friday at the Stinky Creek Saloon. Bud Henderson and the Stinky Creek Saloon sponsored the 37th Annual "Poetry on the Back Porch" with contestants coming from all over the county. "It was fun to see so many people at the contest this year," Henderson said. "We had a good time and everyone enjoyed the winning entry." Nobody was really sure who the winning contestant was because he wore a sumo wrestling costume that covered his face. What everybody WAS sure about was that his presentation and poetry was the best of the day. "This guy put on a show that ranks right up there with last year's winning entry, "Yes! I See You," presented by a fellow dressed up as a motorcycle gang member," Henderson said. "If I recall, we didn't know who that guy was either because he was wearing a bandana around his face. It could have been the same guy, but I guess we'll never know." The first place winner was awarded a $20 gift certificate to eat at the Stinky Creek Saloon. |
