'Shoot down the Satellite' Fun Day

By Tracy Farr
Editor, The Daily Spittoon

The Crappie County Clay Pigeon Shooters and Cowboy Barbeque Association will sponsor a "Shoot down the Satellite" Fun Day Thursday at the old Hanson Farm starting at noon.  Prizes will be awarded and a brisket lunch will be available for purchase.

The fun day gets its name from the U.S. Navy's decision to shoot down a satellite that will soon be crashing back to Earth.  The satellite, which hasn't work since Day One, is filled with toxic fuel that may endanger people wherever it crashes.  The Navy will attempt to shoot it down with a guided rocket before it enters the Earth's atmosphere.

"It's like the Navy said 'pull' on an expensive clay pigeon and is now shooting it down just to see if they can," said Davy Monroe, president of the CCCPSCBA. "So, if they can do it, so can we.  The only difference is we'll be using clay pigeons that only cost a buck each."

For more information, call Monroe at the CCCPSCBA club house.  Either that, or just show up at the event and prepare to have a good time.
