Tracy Farr

I was born and raised in Texas, but don't ask me where. Let's just say I'm from Stinky Creek and leave it at that. A few years ago I thought Stinky Creek needed a newspaper, and so I gave birth to  The Daily Spittoon. The labor wasn't too bad, but feeding it has kept me on my toes. If you would like to become a loyal subscriber (free of charge, of course) just send an email to friends@stinkycreektexas.com. You'll receive a Monday-morning update about the site.

My day starts off at 6 a.m. when I crank up Bus No. 6 and head out to pick up a bunch of eager beaver students ready to head off to school. (Yeah, right!) If you see me swerve on the road I'm probably trying to avoid either cows, skunks, wild hogs, dogs, goats, or tractors with hay forks.  If it's not one thing, it's another.

Except for the bugs that splatter all over your jacket, the rain that seeps into every crevice, the cold that turns your fingers and toes into blocks of ice, the heat that roasts you from the pavement, and the dogs that chase you as if you were a squirrel on steroids -- except for all of that, riding a bike is the only way to go!

Yes, I know I'm crazy, but I just had to do it -- I'm learning how to fly.  I take lessons whenever I can, get into a small airplane with a very brave instructor, and so far have walked away from every landing.  The next time you see a small plane circling above, it might be me.  If I were you, I'd duck and run for cover.

I'm flying and I'm not sure when I'm going to land.
